Post Post, 2026
	Sculptural installation

magazines, mixed media, 2017 to 2026

A series of paper constructions repurposed magazines that were received through the post. Artforum, Canadian Art and other publications have been taken apart, glued back together and taken apart again. Making through unmaking and undoing and redoing the done.First shown in 2017 as a series on a shelf, the series was reconsidered and presented in plexi boxes on a charcoal wall in 2026.This version was shown at the Remai Modern in Saskatoon as part of Material.After.Life curated my Michelle Jacques.Material.After.Life. examines the many ways artists animate found materials, revealing how the discarded can take on new lives, meanings, and forms. The exhibition brings together works that transform remnants of the everyday into objects that speak to memory, imagination, and renewal, alongside pieces that playfully reconfigure cast-off elements into lively, unexpected, or anthropomorphic creations. Through gestures that range from the poetic to the humorous and from the conceptual to the contemplative, the artists highlight the potential for materials to carry histories, spark associations, and suggest states of becoming. Material. After. Life. invites viewers to consider how what we leave behind—whether objects, ideas, or traces—can be reassembled into something resonant, vital, and newly alive.Participating artists are: Sonny Assu, Douglas Bentham, Wally Dion, John Latham, Joanne Lyons, Gwen MacGregor, Leanne Read, Kara Uzelman, Jan Wade.

	2000, 2002 - 2026
	Installation

newspaper, video, audio; Oakville Galleries, Oakville, Ontario, 2002 and Remai Modern, Saskatoon, 2026.

This site-specific installation was part of a solo exhibition at the Oakville Galleries. Everyday, in the year 2000, I purchased a newspaper and rolled up the front section into granny knots (usually made and used to start a fire). The entire year’s worth of newspaper was displayed on the floor and a video documenting the act was shown over the fireplace. Periodically the sound of a flashover fire filled the room.oakvillegalleries.com

This installation was most recently shown at the Remai Modern in Saskaton as part of Material.After.Life curated by Michelle Jacques.Material.After.Life. examines the many ways artists animate found materials, revealing how the discarded can take on new lives, meanings, and forms. The exhibition brings together works that transform remnants of the everyday into objects that speak to memory, imagination, and renewal, alongside pieces that playfully reconfigure cast-off elements into lively, unexpected, or anthropomorphic creations. Treelines - here and there, Kelowna, 2026.

An excerpt from the installation Treelines - Here and there has been included in the group exhibition Her Land: Perspectives in Eco-Art. Kelowna Art Gallery,
Feb 8 to May 11, 2025.Group exhibition curated by Christine May
It celebrates the pivotal contributions of women in the environmental art movement. This exhibition highlights artists whose work merges environmental activism, social commentary, and innovative installation practices, using ephemeral and site-specific works that challenge us to reconsider our relationship with the land.

Spanning a variety of media and approaches, Her Land highlights contemporary voices that address urgent themes of ecological sustainability, Indigenous land rights, and the intersectionality of environmental issues. This exhibition not only reasserts the significance of these artists in the narrative of Eco-Art but also proposes visionary futures through thoughtful stewardship of the earth. This specific version of Treelines - here and there exhibits crocheted trees on individual shelves for the first time. They are accompanied by two photos, from the series of ten, loaned from the Gallery 2 collection in Grand Forks, BC. There is also a video on a flatscreen monitor that highlights locations in Scotland and BC where the trees have been placed and recorded.Artists in the exhibition include:Annie Briard, Sherri Chaba, Dana Claxton, Csetkwe Fortier, Joice M. Hall, Gwen MacGregor, Monique Martin, Tara Nicholson, and Lyndal Osborne.

Treelines - here and there, Grand Forks.
Crocheted trees made from wool and recycled plastic bags, colour photographs and video. ongoing from 2018This installation was shown as a solo exhibition
May 11th to August 3rd, 2024Gallery Two, Grand Forks, BC.Artist’s Talk June 20th, 7pm.
Treelines - here and there is an ongoing installation series of cocheted trees and large format photographs and video projections shot in locations in Scotland and British Columbia. Fifty unique trees (to date) have been crocheted and placed in situ in areas previously logged, where they are photographed and videod. They convey a vulnerability and fragility, incongruous against backdrops of clearcuts, slag heaps, and powerlines that depict the crocheted trees situated across a variety of landscapes. The photographs, video and trees are exhibited together in a gallery space.
Treelines - here and there, Grand Forks was the second iteration of the Treelines project. I was invited to visit Grand Forks in 2023 to produce a series of photos that specificially engage with the region. These photos used sites from a defunct copper mine, a chainsaw museum and the wildfire site of 2027 near Kelowna, BC.

	Treelines - Jordan River.
	Sculpture / Installation / Photography
Crocheted trees made from wool and recycled plastic bags, colour photographs and video placed in a Jordon River Clearcut as part of a project by Broken Forests Fireweed collective.

Treelines - here and there is an ongoing installation series of cocheted trees and large format photographs and video projections shot in locations in Scotland and British Columbia. The project is meant to provoke questions and thoughts about land use, the legacy of colonialization and our collective relationship to land in a time of climate crisis. In the Jordan River version of the project MacGregor traveled with members of the Broken Forest Eco Art Group to work in a clearcut in Jordon River on Vancouver Island. Each artist created a site-specific artwork in the clearcut that was shared in a public presentation and at the Legacy Gallery in Victoria. MacGregor placed a selection of the crocheted trees inside a slash burn pile to be viewed in person as well as in photographs. Photographs and videos of the installation will be incoporated into future version of the Treelines - here and there project.

	Treelines - here and there.

Crocheted trees made from wool and recycled plastic bags, colour photographs and video. ongoing from 2018

This installation was shown at The Nickle GalleriesApril 5th to July 21, 2023, cuatoed by Michele Hardy.

Treelines - here and there is an ongoing installation series of cocheted trees and large format photographs and video projections shot in locations in Scotland and British Columbia. Fifty unique trees (to date) have been crocheted and placed in situ in areas previously logged or mined, where they are photographed and videod. The trees, photos and video are exhiited together as they bring different sensibilities to a gallery space. The wee trees often elicit an empathetic response from the audience as they convey a vulnerability and fragility of nature. The trees placed in situ and photographed however, make the trees seem incongruous against backdrops of clearcuts, slag heaps, and powerlines. The photographs encourage a more complex and difficult conversation about colonialism and resource extraction. The photographs, video and trees are exhibited together in a gallery space. In the exhibition at The Nickle Gallery in 2023 the hand-made crocheted trees and their shadows filled Gallery One alongside a large project with the trees insitu. Grouped together in the gallery, they became approachable and intimate objects with a plush, almost stuffed animal feel at a scale that is relatable. Accompanying the trees was a large scale video projection and ten large format photographs that show the trees in situ in both Scotland and BC.
The crocheted wool trees read both as specific species whether larch or rowan, ponderosa pine or aspen and as trees in general. The plastic trees also have another register—they remain alien looking, intentionally toxic or a little ghostly. In Gallery Two there were ten of the large-scale photos presented along with two videos on flatscreens.
The project is meant to provoke questions and thoughts about land use, the legacy of colonialization and our collective relationship to land in a time of climate crisis. The images and videos juxtapose selective moments captured against the vast scale of environmental change. To date the project has been undertaken in the interior of British Columbia, a clearcut in Jordan River on Vancouver Island, the Outer Hebrides in Scotland and in Greece. Future plans include regions in Ontario.

	Treelines - Greece
	Sculpture / Installation / Photography
Crocheted trees made from wool and recycled plastic bags, colour photographs, 2018.
The Treeline project started from a projects at Phoenix Projects in Athens, Greece. Small crocheted trees were placed in locations as stand-ins for the trees that would have grown in the area. The trees acted as a kind of proxy for me and my relationship to the land and changes depending on the location. The trees were meant to be whimsical, and a bit sad. The plastic trees also have another register—they remain alien looking, intentionally toxic or a little ghostly. This project was the catalist for Treelines - here and there this has been undertaken in the interior of British Columbia, the Outer Hebrides in Scotland.
